We’re delighted to be continuing our partnership with environmental charity, Sylva Foundation, again this year. Together we will promote the craft, skills and woodland management practices to enable us to make more furniture from timber grown here in Britain for the future.
They also run the Sylva Wood School, a unique specialist teaching centre dedicated to ‘inspiring excellence in craft, design and education using home-grown timber’. Every purchase directly supports the training of future craftspeople and the sustainable management of British woodlands, helping to build a more resilient future for British furniture making.
The Sylva Wood School is educating the next generation of designers, makers, consumers and woodland owners in the value of home-grown timber. The collection has been crafted by nine students who completed the six-month professional training course at The Sylva Foundation. Working collaboratively, each student played a part in bringing these pieces to life, applying the skills and techniques developed throughout the course to create furniture that reflects both careful craftsmanship and considered design.
Curved Stool
The Sylva Curved Stool is hand-made in small batches by students at the Sylva Foundation. The curved seat, straight legs and clean lines of the stool, create a distinctive silhouette. Traditional tenon joints are secured within double-socketed mortices, giving additional strength to the wedge joints between the leg and seat. The shaped seat introduces a subtle yet defining design feature.

The Sylva side table is made from Grown in Britain (GiB) certified British ash. Its elegantly turned, elongated legs, and smooth, rounded shape create a tactile design, that fits effortlessly into both modern and traditional interiors.

Bookcase
This Sylva compact bookcase allows you to appreciate carefully considered design, fluid curves and expert craftsmanship. Its refined design provided practical challenges for the students and ensured attention to detail throughout. The three sturdy shelves provide optional storage, with one shelf being adjustable, while the compact size allows it to be used in a variety of rooms. A practical top edge allows items to be leaned securely while also helping prevent items from rolling off.

Bedside Cabinet
The Sylva bedside cabinet combines practical design with a smooth tactile finish. Featuring a single drawer and a functional galleried top, offering both storage and security for everyday items. Its minimalist aesthetic brings a sense of calm and considered simplicity to the bedroom.
