The London Design Festival is an annual event, held to celebrate and promote London as the design capital of the world and as the gateway to the international creative community.
As part of the prestigious London Design Festival, ercol’s chairman Edward Tadros, was one of an expert panel which spoke to an audience of industry leaders, architects and designers. Edward’s co-hosts were Isabelle Chatel de Brancion of Spin Architecture, Albion Co-founder Peter Prescott, James Woodhouse of Conran Contracts and Sean Sutcliffe Co-founder and MD of Benchmark.
The restaurant design based Q&A session entitled “From Plans to Plate” covered the challenges, practical considerations, budgets and theories surrounding the design processes of opening a new restaurant. From conception to creation to the first dish leaving the kitchen, the experienced panel looked at every stage with a particular focus on Albion Clerkenwell; a project in which they were all involved. ercol’s involvement was through the supply of some of the restaurant’s furniture. The furniture supplied to The Albion was from the Originals collection designed by ercol’s founder Lucian Ercolani – Studio couches and Chairmakers chairs and also the new Flow chair, designed by Tomoko Azumi and made by ercol.
The session was held on the evening of the 21st September at Conran’s restaurant The Albion, Clerkenwell. Clerkenwell, in the borough of Islington, is famous for its love of design and now is home to many design agencies and media outlets and was the perfect setting.
After the session closed, Edward commented by saying: “The quality and design of our furniture transits very easily from the home to the world of hospitality. It was a really interesting evening to be able to share ideas about furniture and restaurants, both close to my heart!”
