January 2016 roundup of Furniture Shows

By ercol on 1 February 2016

January was a busy month at ercol, with three shows, Maison et Objet, IMM in Cologne and The January Furniture Show at the Birmingham NEC all in the last few weeks!

We started our travels at IMM in Cologne from 18-24 January which was shortly followed by Maison et Objet in Paris 22-26 January. At IMM and Maison we launched a new collection to the Trade, entitled Pero, in collaboration with internationally renowned designer, Matthew Hilton.

The new Desk, plus Low and Tall Shelving Units, have all been designed in oak and will form part of a new range of home office furniture. The Pero Desk has a pull-out drawer at the front lined with a warm soft textured matt linoleum in a conifer colour; at the back is a matt black metal fold-out space to allow wires for technology to access the piece. Matthew Hilton has collaborated with us before with the award-winning Treviso Desk.

Marino Sofa and Footstool

A further new design from us is the two-seater Marino Sofa and Footstool. Designed our design studio by Dylan Freeth to complement the existing Marino Chair launched at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2015, the new Marino Sofa will share the same smooth lines – hand-crafted from steam bent solid ash – and the considered and contemporary design aesthetic. Honed from solid ash, using traditional craftsmanship and modern furniture making techniques.

New interpretation of classic ercol designs

We also showcased a contemporary interpretation of the Originals Room Divider (first designed by Lucian Ercolani in 1956) which will be reissued in elm and beech. A further classic piece to be shown is the Originals Drop Leaf Plank Table (first launched in the 1950’s) which has been made in elm and beech and can extend to seat four people. The Originals Bar Stool was also showcased in ash and beech. These are similar in design to the current Bar Stools but will have a back!

From 24-27 January, we were delighted to be launching five new ranges to the Trade at the January Furniture Show at the NEC in Birmingham. Incorporating designs for the bedroom, dining area and contemporary living, each piece combines practicality with style and comfort whilst embodying ercol’s reputation for quality and craftsmanship.
