bosco bedroom

The detail of the exposed finger joints and curved edges create a distinctive look for this oak bedroom furniture range.  The bed reflects this detail with its beautiful curved slatted headboard, whilst the bedroom cabinets and wardrobes have simple, easy to pull handles cut out of the oak.

As well as being designed for its looks, the Bosco oak bedroom furniture range is also designed for comfort and for practicality.

Bosco Bedroom

Design direction

With Bosco we wanted to create a range of modern bedroom furniture made from solid oak and oak veneers.  We wanted a bedroom furniture range that was easy to live with, which means that it is modern, but it feels comfortable and casual in your home.

Bosco bedroom has lots of well recognised ercol design features, such as its crafted joint details and soft curves.  We also wanted to reference some well-recognised ercol shapes with the Bosco bedroom furniture range, so we created the oval cut-out handles which reference the oval cut-out shape in our classic Windsor range of furniture and makes a really nice, soft, tactile feature when you are opening and closing the drawers on the chest of drawers and bedside table.  The finger joints in the solid wood drawer fronts give it that lovely feel of handcrafted furniture.

We took the finger joint detail from the chest of drawers and bedside table, copied it and made it really large and bold on the headboard of the bed, to give a really nice, bold design feature and focal point for the range in your bedroom.

Bosco means wood in Italian and we named the furniture this because this range is all about the timber and no two pieces are alike.

Design

Design is central to ercol – design for comfort, design for function, design for looks.  The ercol design studio is a strong in-house pool of design talent whilst we also commission both well-renowned and upcoming external designers to work with us on projects, bringing their flavours to the ercol style.  Our in-house designers are complemented by a team of draughtsmen who convert the designs into the detailed technical component drawings necessary to make the furniture, programmers for our CNC machines and the highly skilled craftsmen of our prototype team, who hand-craft the first samples of each design.
